About Dean

For someone given no chance – Dean has achieved more than most in what continues to be a remarkable life.

When I was born doctors gave me no chance of surviving. In fact they said if i survived to see my 4th birthday it would be nothing short of a miracle. Well now I am 40yrs old and living my life to its fullest.

I have turned every negative into a positive to not only defy all the odds but to rewrite all the rules along the way.
Medically speaking, I was given no chance to survive, but I have found a way to not just survive but thrive under extreme adversity to achieve more than anyone could have ever imagined.

Born with Epidermolysis Bullosa (“The worst disease you’ve never heard of”), which is commonly referred to by the media as Cotton Wool Kids or E.B.

My life is one of extreme pain and hardship. The simplest of every day task can rip his skin apart like ripping apart a tissue.
Yet I have never wavered in my dream to be a productive member of the community and live a meaningful life filled with purpose.

In 2003 I had a dream to become a Motivational Speaker to try and inspire people who were struggling like I had been throughout different stages of my life. This began an amazing journey that has taken me all over Australia and even internationally sharing my story to everyone from school students to Prime Ministers.

I am honoured to be an Ambassador for Debra Australia as well as an Ambassador for my beloved Brisbane Broncos Rugby League Football Club.

And that is just the start of this amazing story.
